Use it when: The model answers from stale knowledge, or you are deciding how to format records inside a prompt.

The model is static and frozen at a point in time, so if you want it to know current information, like the time or the weather, you must provide it.

Importantly, when truncating the context, you must truncate aggressively enough to **allow room for the response as well**.

Markdown tables work really well for many use cases and should be preferred due to their density and ability for the model to handle them reliably, but you may run into scenarios where you have many columns and the model struggles with it or every item has some custom attributes and it doesn’t make sense to have dozens of columns of empty data.

Make sure you give the model an example of the output format you’d like.
